High Quality Tactical Solutions
Finding A Solution Is Our Ultimate Goal!
Since 1925, Our Team Has Succeeded In Understanding The Needs Of The Industry And Creating Quality, Reliable Products.
In 1925, Herbert W. Goltz founded the Standard Tool & Gage Corp that designed and manufactured precision tools, gages, jigs, angle plates, sine bars, and specialty cutting tools that were sold throughout the world. They also developed and patented a grinding wheel dresser that was made and sold under the SPI-RAL name.
In 1946, Spiral Manufacturing Corp was formed and the partners were Herbert W. Goltz, Delbert E. Goltz, and Herbert C. Goltz, the son of Herbert W. Goltz.
In November 1961, Herbert W. Goltz passed the torch to his son, Herbert C. Goltz, who took over ownership and changed the name to Spiral Steel & Tool Corp, moving it to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There he manufactured SPI-RAL products along with selling Specialty Steel products.
In late 1997, the third generation had taken over the company and completed transfer of ownership in January 1998. The grandson of founder Herbert W. Goltz, John Goltz, continued business operations under the name SPI-RAL Steel & Tool Corp, running the business under the principal foundation started by his grandfather.
After successfully running the business for many years, John too was interested in retiring and decided to sell the business.
In late 2020, John sold the business to Wenzel S. Swagel, an entrepreneur from De Pere, Wisconsin, transferring the manufacturing and assembly to the De Pere location and renaming the company SPI-RAL Steel LLC. Our intent is to keep the heritage of the business as founded nearly 100 years ago, broaden its product offerings, and expand its market platform throughout the world and continue to produce high- quality products in the USA.
SPI-RAL is a registered trademark of SPI-RAL Steel LLC.
